The district has posted at www.sd35.bc.ca that all schools will be open today. As such, jazz band will be on this morning, but please be safe. Parents need to make their own decisions about the safety of their child coming out for the early class. If you feel you would rather wait for the regular start of the day for school busses and extra time for road preparations, please just let me know via email or send a note with your child. I would rather that kids be safe!

December 1st Concert change: Now at LSS
As I mentioned in class today, we had a double booking occur at HD Stafford this past week. As a result the December 1st concert will be at LSS in the small gym. All other details remain the same, but we will see you at LSS next Thursday.
Nov 15th Update
We are down to 4/5 rehearsal for both bands until our concert on December 1, so here are a few notes from today’s rehearsals:
Jazz Band needs to complete their rubrics for performance for Thursday’s class. What will you accept for notes, rhythm and dynamics in our performances. Remember to look at the lines you’re struggling with. Some of the horn parts still have note and rhythm issues and rhythm section has some groove issues to deal with as well. Please have notes and rhythm sorted by next Tuesday.
Concert Band needs to cover notes and rhythms as well, but the largest issue is entrances. Please be sure to work with the recordings to hear where things align with other members of the band.
No CB listening assignment – yet
Sorry band members, but some technical difficulties mean I couldn’t get the recordings posted properly this weekend. No assignment at this point. See you in Tuesday’s rehearsal.
First Concert – Thursday, December 1, 2011 at HD Stafford – 6:30pm student call
The first concert of the year will be taking place at HD Stafford Middle School on Thursday, December 1, 2011. Call will be 6:30pm in the HDS Band Room and the show will start at 7:00pm. We will hear from the HDS Beginning, Advanced and Jazz Bands, as well as the LSS Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. Uniform Reminder:
- LSS students are in Tan Pants with the LSS Music Shirt. See Mr. Follett if you need to get one.
- HDS students are in dark pants with white and/or red tops.
